Softball Recap: Plainfield Central Triumphs

Plainfield Central was handed a seven-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They skirted past the Joliet West Tigers 8-7. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered a 4-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Maeve Carlton was incredible, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Evalyn Prochaska, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Plainfield Central lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive games.

Plainfield Central's victory bumped their record up to 7-9-1. As for Joliet West, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Coming up, Plainfield Central will head out on the road to square off against West Aurora at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Joliet West, they will face off against Plainfield North at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
