Baseball Recap: New York Mills Triumphs

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask New York Mills). Everything went their way against the Town of Webb Timberwolves on Monday as they made off with a 17-7 victory. The Marauders haven't had any issues with the Timberwolves recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Andrew Tallman made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Tallman was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, New York Mills got a massive performance out of Richard Zalocha, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Elijah Dutcher was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

New York Mills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

New York Mills' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3-1.

Coming up, Town of Webb will venture away from home to take on Morrisville-Eaton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mavericks' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Timberwolves' hitters will have their work cut out for them. New York Mills will be paying especially close attention to Town of Webb's matchup: after Town of Webb faces off against Morrisville-Eaton, they'll take on New York Mills again at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
