Baseball Game Preview: Sahuaro Cougars vs. Tombstone Yellow Jackets

The Sahuaro Cougars will take on the Tombstone Yellow Jackets in a tournament on Saturday.

Sahuaro saw some tournament action on Thursday. They fell just short of Bisbee by a score of 4-3.

Cody Taitano and Dylan Webber stepped up to the plate in a big way. Taitano scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3, while Webber scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. That's the most hits Taitano has posted since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Tombstone got themselves on the board against St. David on Friday, but St. David never followed suit. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Tigers. The Yellow Jackets haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Tombstone's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Trey Franklin, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2. Franklin is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Tombstone hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in seven consecutive contests.

Tombstone's win bumped their record up to 8-2-1. As for Sahuaro, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7-1.
