Palatka hadn't done well against Nease recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Palatka had just enough and edged out Nease 5-3. Winning may never get old, but Palatka sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Paxton Sweat spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Palatka's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Gaskin, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. Cason Thomas was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

Palatka's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Nease, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Palatka will be playing in front of their home fans against Middleburg at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Nease, they are taking a road trip to challenge Tocoi Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Toros have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
