Basketball Recap: Rincon/University Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Will Edwards and Ezra Shaffer + How To Watch

Rincon/University had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-5 to make it seven. They lost 71-48 to the Williams Field Black Hawks. The Rangers were down 60-32 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the defeat, Rincon/University had strong showings from Ezra Shaffer, who shot 70% from the field to rack up 14 points and seven boards, and Will Edwards, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Edwards continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Wyatt Green also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

As for Williams Field, they now have a winning record of 5-4. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Williams Field was led to victory by Jacai Reed and Henry Rhoden. Reed went 7-for-12 on his way to 16 points, while Rhoden shot 60% from the field en route to 16 points. Brion O'Leary was another key player, going 5-for-10 to rack up 12 points.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rincon/University will head out to face off against Sahuarita at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rangers' defense better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 50 points per game this season. Williams Field and Basha will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
