Pine Valley Central is 0-9 against Silver Creek since April of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. The Panthers will welcome the Black Knights at 5:00 p.m. Silver Creek took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Pine Valley Central, who comes in off a win.
The home team had come away the winner the last seven times Pine Valley Central and Brocton had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Panthers came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 7-2 on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Danica Farnham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Pine Valley Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lizzie Roland, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Roland has hit this season. Another was Sandy Ivett, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Silver Creek came up short against Randolph on Monday and fell 12-7.
Maddie Blair put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and ten unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Rylee Weiskerger made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Kim Bauer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Silver Creek's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3-1. As for Pine Valley Central, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-3.
Pine Valley Central couldn't quite finish off Silver Creek in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
