Baseball Recap: Eastern Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Eastern extended their winning streak to five on Saturday, bumping them up to 8-1. They put the hurt on the Northfield Norsemen with a sharp 13-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won three games by eight runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Owen Tolle, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Kretz, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Eastern kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive matchups.

As for Northfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

On Northfield's side, Caleb Dubois was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Dubois is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as he's now launched at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Eastern didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-0 loss against Carroll on the 21st. As for Northfield, they have also already played their next matchup, a 10-3 defeat against Wabash on the 22nd.
