Football Game Preview: Sparta Spartans vs. West Milford Highlanders

Sparta has won six straight games at home (dating back to last season), while West Milford has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Spartans will host the Highlanders at 6:30 p.m. Sparta knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully West Milford likes a good challenge.

Sparta is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Madison just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 48-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dodgers. While the Spartans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Dodgers 14-7 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, while West Milford put up some points on Friday, the same can't be said for Nutley. The Highlanders walked away with a 7-0 win over the Maroon Raiders. Those seven points were actually the fewest the Highlanders have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

West Milford's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Sparta, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Everything came up roses for Sparta against West Milford in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 42-14 win. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Highlanders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
