Basketball Recap: Martinsville Comes Up Short

Martinsville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-48 heartbreaker at the hands of the Shelbyville Rams. The Bluestreaks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 53-49.

Kenzie Jones continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Shelbyville, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Jones has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last eight times she's played. Tailyn Hancock was another key player, putting up nine points along with five boards and three steals.

Martinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Shelbyville, they moved to 6-13 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Martinsville has already played their next match (against Dugger Union), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Shelbyville will square off against Central A & M at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Shelbyville is facing Central A & M at the right time seeing as Central A & M is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
