Softball Recap: Southport Drops Highest Score of Season Against Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southport). They blew past the Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter Raiders 17-3 on Saturday. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Southport got a great performance from Emma Jordan as she pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Jordan has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hayli Phoenix was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ally Kiefner, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Southport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Southport back to even at 12-12. As for Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

Southport does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter, they will square off against Park Tudor at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
