Basketball Recap: Valley Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Valley had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-17 to make it five. They were dealt a 76-47 defeat at the hands of the Fort Morgan Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Mustangs are ranked 121st).

Valley's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nate Soliz, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Maddox Woolverton, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds.

As for Fort Morgan, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points over those games.

JJ Marquez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 10-for-21 to rack up 23 points along with five boards and four steals. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlo Bassalle, who made all 5 shots he took racking up 13 points and eight rebounds.

Valley has already played their next contest, a 77-35 defeat against Eaton on the 17th. As for Fort Morgan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 62-54 win against Sterling on the 17th.
