King/Drew is 0-10 against Port of Los Angeles since April of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Golden Eagles will host the Polar Bears at 3:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with King/Drew sitting on three straight victories and Port of Los Angeles on nine.
King/Drew's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Fremont as they made off with a 9-0 win.
Jordan Garcia made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Arianna Lawrence, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
Meanwhile, Port of Los Angeles' rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Monday. They put the hurt on Dorsey with a sharp 20-0 victory. Considering the Polar Bears have won nine matches by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Like King/Drew, Port of Los Angeles also got a great game from a two-way player: Alyssa Setka. Throwing, Setka struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Nevaeh Randall pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Setka went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Randall went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, eight RBI, and two runs. Those eight RBI gave Randall a new career-high.
In other batting news, Briana Aleman was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Samantha Cordova was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Port of Los Angeles always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .793. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Port of Los Angeles' win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for King/Drew, their win bumped their record up to 8-13.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. King/Drew has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Port of Los Angeles struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
King/Drew couldn't quite get it done against Port of Los Angeles in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 5-1. Will the Golden Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
