Baseball Recap: Snowflake Lobos vs. Coolidge Bears

With a playoff game on the line, Snowflake rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Coolidge Bears with a sharp 20-4 victory. Snowflake might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 12 games by seven runs or more this season.

Skip Bawden made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only one hit. Bawden has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive pitching appearances. Bawden was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and a triple.

In other batting news, Snowflake got a massive performance out of Brennen Bryant, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Kyler Matthews, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

On Coolidge's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Salim Sesma, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Snowflake has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. As for Coolidge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-12.

Snowflake will head out on the road to take on Pusch Ridge Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
