Softball Recap: Broad Run Comes Up Short

Monday just wasn't the day for Broad Run's offense. They fell just short of the Briar Woods Falcons by a score of 1-0 on Monday. The Spartans have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Anna Weltens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

Broad Run now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Briar Woods, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-5.

Broad Run has already played their next game (against Tuscarora), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Briar Woods, they will head out to take on Potomac Falls at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
