Softball Recap: Farmington Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Farmington won the last time they faced Layton and things went their way on Friday too. The Phoenix walked away with a 6-3 win over the Lancers.

Lill Topham tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Farmington let Sophia Strong and Brooklyn Wright run wild. Strong went 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Wright went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most RBI Strong has posted since back in March.

Farmington hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 5-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Farmington's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-10. As for Layton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-21.

Coming up, Farmington will challenge Copper Hills at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Phoenix's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Grizzlies have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. Layton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
