Softball Game Preview: Adna Pirates vs. Elma Eagles

The Adna Pirates will take on the Elma Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Adna 3.6, Elma 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Adna is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Washington's top teams: Montesano, who was ranked second at the time (Adna was ranked 15th). The Pirates fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 2-1 on Friday. The Pirates were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the four games prior), but the Bulldogs' pitcher proved too tough.

Adna saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was TEAGAN BAGGENSTOS, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Elma's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 11-6 to Pe Ell/Willapa Valley.

Elma's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Adna, their loss dropped their record down to 15-4.

Adna was able to grind out a solid win over Elma in their previous meeting back in May of 2018, winning 8-4. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
