Softball Game Preview: Kettle Run Cougars vs. Skyline Hawks

The Kettle Run Cougars will face off against the Skyline Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Kettle Run is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Fauquier hit Kettle Run with a four-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cougars lost 11-3 to the Falcons.

Kettle Run saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emerson Golden, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Skyline couldn't beat Brentsville District on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the seventh inning. The Hawks took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. That's two games in a row now that the Hawks have lost by exactly three runs.

Emma Veitenthal made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Kyleigh Williams was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Kettle Run's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Skyline, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Kettle Run hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Skyline struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
