Stratford Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the St. Anne-Pacelli Vikings 49-17. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Stratford Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tucker Johnston led the charge by throwing for 236 yards and three TDs on only 13 passes, while also rushing for 59 yards and a pair of scores. 119 of Johnston's passing yards were hauled in by Jett Johnston, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Stratford Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 312 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Anne-Pacelli only rushed for 99 rushing yards.
St. Anne-Pacelli lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cameron Carino, who rushed for 74 yards and one touchdown.
