Volleyball Game Preview: Elmwood-Murdock Knights vs. Mead Raiders

The Elmwood-Murdock Knights will head out to face off against the Mead Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Elmwood-Murdock will be strutting in after a win while Mead will be coming in after a defeat.

Elmwood-Murdock took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Palmyra. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted against the Panthers since October 14, 2021.

Elmwood-Murdock had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 14-25, 25-20, 25-13.

Meanwhile, Mead suffered their biggest loss since September 11th on Tuesday. They came up short against Yutan, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Raiders in their meetings with the Chieftains: they've now lost four in a row.

The final score came out to 25-20, 25-12, 25-13.

Mead's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Elmwood-Murdock, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Elmwood-Murdock took their victory against Mead when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
