Softball Recap: Galena Comes Up Short

Galena and Spanish Springs squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Galena had to settle for second. They took a 13-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. The Grizzlies just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Jordan Gurney and Taylor Cunningham did some serious damage despite the final result: Gurney went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Cunningham went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Kylee Baker was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI.

Galena's loss dropped their record down to 9-22-1. As for Spanish Springs, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-10-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Galena is set to face off against their familiar foe Damonte Ranch at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Spanish Springs will square off against rival Douglas at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
