Softball Recap: Astoria Takes Down Ranked Scappoose

Astoria faced Scappoose in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Fishermen had just enough and edged out the Indians 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Fishermen have posted since April 11th.

The team relied heavily on Kya Lindell, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Aryana Adams was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Astoria kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matchups.

Astoria's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.5 runs. As for Scappoose, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-5.

Astoria will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Indians: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
