Soccer Game Preview: Barbe vs. Lafayette

The Barbe Buccaneers will take on the Lafayette Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Barbe's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Barbe fell victim to St. Louis Catholic and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Saints by a score of 1-0. The Buccaneers haven't had much luck with the Saints recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, Lafayette faced Mt. Carmel in a battle between two of the state's top teams back in December of 2024. Lafayette came up short against Mt. Carmel, falling 3-0. The Lions have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Barbe's loss dropped their record down to 8-6-1. As for Lafayette, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-3-1.

Barbe came up short against Lafayette when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 2-0. Can Barbe avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
