Softball Recap: Goshen Central Snags Seventh Win in Last Nine Games

Goshen Central barely beat Cornwall Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Gladiators were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Dragons on Tuesday. Considering the Gladiators have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Addison Freiberger was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sophia Springer was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Mia Antolino, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Goshen Central is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cornwall Central, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Goshen Central will challenge Middletown at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cornwall Central, they will square off against Minisink Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
