Softball Game Preview: Lakeshore vs. Albany Hornets

Lakeshore will square off against the Albany Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

If Lakeshore beats Albany with ten runs on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Lakeshore blew past Springfield 10-4 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for Lakeshore in their matchups with Springfield: they've now won seven in a row.

Annabella Litolff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits. Those hits were her first of the season.

At the plate, Lakeshore got a massive performance out of Sydney Arnold, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Tannah Willie, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Lakeshore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Albany made easy work of Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy on Friday and carried off a 13-2 win.

Albany is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lakeshore, they pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
