Softball Recap: Cyprus Pirates vs. Maple Mountain Golden Eagles

Cyprus and Maple Mountain squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Cyprus had to settle for second. They fell 8-3 to the Golden Eagles. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Breelyn ( Bree ) Garcia put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

Garcia wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Emalee Valencia, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
