Football Recap: Middle Creek Starts Season with Win Against Fuquay - Varina + How To Watch

Middle Creek took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They claimed a resounding 37-7 victory over the Fuquay - Varina Bengals. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 34-27 win the Bengals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Jayden Spencer went supernova, rushing for 89 yards and one TD on only eight carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 68 yards.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. All came from Ben Ladue: he went 3-for-3 kicking field goals for nine points, and 4-for-4 kicking extra points for an additional four.

Middle Creek didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Derrick Morton and Honor Paxton. Morton is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Middle Creek is headed away from home for the first time to square off against Willow Spring at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fuquay - Varina, they will host Apex at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
