Recap: Central Mountain Wildcats vs. Chestnut Ridge Lions

The Central Mountain Wildcats pushed their score all the way to 65 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Chestnut Ridge by a score of 67-65. While losing is never fun, Central Mountain can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Chestnut Ridge is ranked 82nd).

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Xaiver Persun, who scored 17 points. Hunter Hoy was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.

Central Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Chestnut Ridge, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 18-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Mountain will face off against Williamsport at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Williamsport has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Chestnut Ridge, they will head out on the road to challenge Richland at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Chestnut Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 games -- so hopefully Richland likes a good challenge.
