Softball Game Preview: Towanda Black Knights vs. Sayre Sabres

Towanda is a perfect 8-0 against Sayre since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Black Knights will be playing at home against the Sabres at 10:00 a.m. Neither Towanda nor Sayre posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Towanda fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Athens on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 3-2. The loss continues a trend for the Black Knights in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.

Towanda saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Evans, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Sayre came up short against Troy on Tuesday and fell 6-1.

Sayre dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Towanda, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.

Towanda took their victory against Sayre in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Black Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Sabres turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
