Basketball Recap: Eisenhower Comes Up Short

Eisenhower lost against Nimitz on January 3rd and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Eisenhower Eagles took a blow against the Nimitz Cougars, falling 65-24. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1352nd, while the Cougars are ranked 322nd).

Aniah Richard continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Nimitz, going 13 for 21 en route to 32 points and seven steals. The game was Richard's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Alayia Hutchinson was another key player, going 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Eisenhower is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-20. As for Nimitz, they pushed their record up to 22-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Eisenhower will square off against Aldine at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Eisenhower is facing Aldine at the right time seeing as Aldine is stuck on a 22-game losing streak. As for Nimitz, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Nimitz Cougars face off against the Spring Lions at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Nimitz's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight contests.
