Baseball Recap: Northgate Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Northgate and Marin Catholic squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Northgate had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 4-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Broncos in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.

Max Carlos was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Blayne Ballard made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Christopher Flores, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Northgate's loss dropped their record down to 18-8. As for Marin Catholic, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-12.

As of now, neither Northgate nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
