Softball Game Preview: West Craven Eagles vs. North Pitt Panthers

For the second straight game, West Craven will face off against North Pitt. The Eagles will host the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (West Craven has three straight wins, North Pitt has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

West Craven's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past North Pitt 17-0. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Riley Dixon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Dixon was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, West Craven got a massive performance out of Izabella Sutton, who scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave Sutton a new career-high. Morgan Jarman was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

West Craven always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

West Craven's victory bumped their record up to 3-10. As for North Pitt, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-15.
