Basketball Recap: West Point Triumphs

There's no place like home for West Point, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They pulled ahead with a 40-39 photo finish over the Apollo Hawks on Friday.

Apollo's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Murryah Crump, who went 6 of 13 en route to 13 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Serenity Thomas, who posted ten points.

West Point pushed their record up to 7-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.3 points per game. As for Apollo, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

West Point wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 74-6 loss against Valley Vista on the 22nd. Apollo has also already played their next game, a 46-25 victory against Tolleson on the 23rd.
