Softball Recap: Oak Grove Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Oak Grove can now relate to. They fell just short of Tallassee by a score of 9-8 on Tuesday. Oak Grove's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Paighton Wright was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out six batters over nine innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Gracie Hess was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs. Ava Brand was another key player, going 1-for-5 with three RBI and one run.

Oak Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 25-19. As for Tallassee, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-14 record.

As of now, neither Oak Grove nor Tallassee have any future games scheduled.
