Basketball Game Preview: Cook Inlet Academy Eagles vs. Soldotna Stars

The Cook Inlet Academy Eagles will be taking part in a tournament against the Soldotna Stars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cook Inlet Academy will be strutting in after a win while Soldotna will be coming in after a loss.

Cook Inlet Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Minto, who was ranked seventh at the time (Cook Inlet Academy was ranked 18th). Cook Inlet Academy put the hurt on Minto with a sharp 80-59 victory on Saturday. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Soldotna was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by Mountain City Christian Academy 73-40. The Stars were down 53-24 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Cook Inlet Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Soldotna, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Cook Inlet Academy took a serious blow against Soldotna in their previous meeting back in December of 2014, falling 75-38. Can Cook Inlet Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
