Softball Recap: Mt. Diablo Red Devils vs. Miramonte Matadors

Mt. Diablo lost against Miramonte back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mt. Diablo Red Devils lost 9-3 to the Miramonte Matadors. Mt. Diablo has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ashley Cornejo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last four games she's played. Jasmin Guardado was another key contributor, going 2-for-3 with a stolen base and two RBI.

On Miramonte's side, Abby Warren spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on one hit and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gianna Granzella, who went 3-for-4 with a home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Talia Kardon, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Mt. Diablo's loss dropped their record down to 6-14-1. As for Miramonte, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-7.
