Baseball Preview: Gloucester County Tech vs. Kingsway Dragons

Gloucester County Tech hasn't had much luck against Kingsway recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Gloucester County Tech will face off against Kingsway at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Gloucester County Tech nor Buena made it on the board until the tenth inning. Gloucester County Tech came out on top against Buena by a score of 6-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Gloucester County Tech.

Gloucester County Tech got a great performance from Zack Hahn as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Hahn also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Gloucester County Tech is 9-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 5-6-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Reed Murphy was excellent, going 1-for-6 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Vincent Rosas was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Gloucester County Tech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buena only managed five.

Meanwhile, Kingsway owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Saturday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over Haddonfield.

Not much got past Tyler Rodgers, who gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Haddonfield off the board.

On the hitting side, Brayden Thorp and Ashton Ford did most of the damage at the plate: Thorp got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Ford went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Christian Fanelli also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Gloucester County Tech has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Kingsway struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
