Softball Game Preview: Lexington Eagles vs. Thrall Tigers

For the second straight game, Lexington will face off against Thrall. The Eagles will welcome the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lexington's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Thrall's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While Lexington's win against Thrall wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since February 21st.

Not much got past Taylor Akin, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Thrall off the board. Akin has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lexington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Rodriguez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another was Kendall Gural, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Lexington is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Thrall, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-11.
