Softball Game Preview: Garner Trojans vs. Cleveland Rams

Garner and Cleveland are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Trojans will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Rams at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Friday, Garner got the win against Fuquay - Varina by a conclusive 15-4. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Bengals: they've now won six in a row.

Mayken Lynette was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Kira Bryant was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gaby Mizelle, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

Garner was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. They are 10-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Cleveland waltzed into their match on Friday with 11 straight wins... but they left with 12. They blew past the Storm 10-1.

Cleveland's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Garner, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6.
