Recap: Minden Whippets vs. Ainsworth Bulldogs
The Minden Whippets stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Ainsworth 66-36 on the road. Winning may never get old, but Minden sure is getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Minden was led to victory by Myla Emery and Mattie Kamery. Emery scored 17 points along with two steals, while Kamery scored 17 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Emery is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Makenna Starkey, who scored nine points.
Ainsworth's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jocelyn Good, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracyn Painter, who scored 12 points.
Minden's win bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Ainsworth, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
Minden will be playing at home against Gothenburg at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Gothenburg is ranked 24th, while Minden is ranked 13th). Ainsworth on the road again on Saturday and play against Broken Bow at 2:45 p.m. on January 27th. Broken Bow will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
