Football Game Preview: Brewster Bears vs. Lakeland Hornets

Brewster is a perfect 5-0 against Lakeland since September of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bears will look to defend their home field against the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Brewster's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 31-0 win over Fox Lane. The matchup marked the Bears' most dominant victory of the season.

Brewster had a senior duo take command as Chase Prohaszka rushed for 128 yards and two TDs on only ten carries and Tre Ficarra rushed for 156 yards and one touchdown while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. Prohaszka really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run.

Brewster was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 358 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Brewster's defense and their four sacks. Leading the way was Ryan Cleary with two.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakeland). They came out on top against Nyack by a score of 42-32 on Saturday.

The win made it two in a row for Brewster and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.5 points over those games. As for Lakeland, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Brewster was able to grind out a solid win over Lakeland when the teams last played back in September of 2024, winning 13-0. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
