Basketball Recap: Stephenville Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Stephenville won the last time they faced Lake Worth and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Stephenville Yellow Jackets/Honeybees enjoyed a cozy 63-47 win over the Lake Worth Bullfrogs. Given the Yellow Jackets/Honeybees' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while the Bullfrogs are ranked 675th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lake Worth lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Braylen Fridia, who posted 16 points and eight rebounds. Those eight boards gave Fridia a new career-high. Ayden Brooks was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 boards.

Stephenville's victory bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Lake Worth, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.

Stephenville will square off against Gordon at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lake Worth, they will take on Krum at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Lake Worth is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.3 points per game this season.
