Volleyball Preview: Burton Panthers vs. Giddings Buffaloes

The Burton Panthers will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Giddings Buffaloes at 4:00 p.m. Burton will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, everything went Burton's way against Snook as Burton made off with a 3-0 win.

Burton walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-4, 25-16.

Burton can attribute much of their success to Paige Fritsch, who had seven digs and five aces, and Reagan Roemer, who had 13 digs. That's the most aces Fritsch has posted since back in September.

Burton was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 12 aces in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Giddings was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to Caldwell. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Buffaloes have suffered against the Hornets since October 29, 2019.

Giddings was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-19, 25-10.

Burton's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 31-14. As for Giddings, their loss dropped their record down to 16-27.
