Recap: McLane Highlanders vs. Sunnyside Wildcats

After a string of five wins, the McLane Highlanders's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost to Sunnyside at home by a decisive 60-45 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points McLane has scored all season.

Despite the loss, McLane saw an underclassman step up: Demetrius Simon scored nine points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Pamanes, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.

Sunnyside got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cj Jones out in front who scored 21 points. The contest was Jones' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was DJ Johnson, who scored 17 points.

McLane's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7. As for Sunnyside, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McLane will square off against Sanger West at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sunnyside won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Sierra at 5:30 p.m. on January 10th.
