Softball Recap: Chalker Wins Going Away Against Windham

The matchup between Chalker and Windham on Friday hardly resembled the 3-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Bombers with a sharp 15-4 win. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Bombers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Riley Ashcraft was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Ashcraft was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Kelsey Kren was a standout: she scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Abby Grimm was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Chalker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Windham only posted an OBP of .318.

Chalker's record now sits at 2-0. As for Windham, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Chalker will challenge Bristol at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Windham, they will welcome Lordstown at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bombers are facing the Red Devils at the right time seeing as the Red Devils are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
