Football Recap: Pflugerville Connally Falls Short of Randle in the Playoffs

Pflugerville Connally and Randle squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Pflugerville Connally had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Lions and fell 59-28. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 576th, while the Lions are ranked seventh).

Pflugerville Connally's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jase Watkins, who threw for 167 yards and three TDs. The Cougars' leading receiver Jonah Garcia was Watkins' top target yet again, picking up 58 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 52 yards and one score.

Randle was led to victory by Tyler Skrabanek and Amari Louisville. Skrabanek threw for 233 yards and three TDs while completing 87.5% of his passes, while Louisville gained 122 total yards and two touchdowns. What's more, Skrabanek racked up 14 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in August. Randle also got help from Mason Mixon, who showed off his sure hands for 81 receiving yards.

Pflugerville Connally moved to 7-5 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Randle, their record now sits at 12-0.

Pflugerville Connally does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Randle, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 83-20 win against Bastrop on the 29th.
