Baseball Recap: New Brockton Extends Winning Streak to Four

New Brockton had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Florala Wildcats as they made off with an 8-2 victory. The Gamecocks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Hayden Pope and Judd Thomas did most of the damage at the plate: Pope scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-3, while Thomas scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Hand, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

New Brockton pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Florala, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-3.

Looking ahead, New Brockton will be playing in front of their home fans against Geneva at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. New Brockton is facing Geneva at the right time seeing as Geneva is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Florala, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Florala Wildcats duke it out with Paxton Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Their pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Paxton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
