Baseball Recap: Cordova Comes Up Short

Cordova came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Oak Grove Tigers, falling 7-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Blue Devils have suffered since April 15, 2024.

Jordan Gant was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Cordova now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Oak Grove, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Coming up, Cordova will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Coosa Christian at 11:00 a.m. Cordova is facing Coosa Christian at the right time seeing as Coosa Christian is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Oak Grove, they will challenge Corner at 4:30 p.m. on March 6th.
