Lake Howell is 8-2 against Seminole since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Silverhawks will head out on the road to challenge the Seminoles at 7:00 p.m. Lake Howell will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Last Thursday, Lake Howell was able to grind out a solid victory over Oviedo, taking the game 5-1.
Rhianna Hudson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cate Haggerty, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Hodosko, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, while Seminole put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for DeLand. The Seminoles blew past the Bulldogs 11-0. With that win, the Seminoles brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
The result came thanks to Ava Matthews's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Alexandra Steffano was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maggie Long, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Seminole kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Lake Howell pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Seminole, their record now sits at 5-10.
Lake Howell took their victory against Seminole when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 8-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Silverhawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
