McMinn Central came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Red Bank Lions. This was a revenge game for the Chargers: when they faced off against the Lions back in March, they had to take a 14-7 defeat.

Evan James tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He also tossed two walks, marking his first of the season.

On the hitting side, Hunter Rayburn and Ayden Plemons did most of the damage at the plate: Rayburn went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Plemons scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That triple was Rayburn's first of the season.

McMinn Central's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Red Bank, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-12.

Coming up, McMinn Central will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Ooltewah at 11:00 a.m. The Chargers will need to watch out since the Owls have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Red Bank, they will venture away from home to face off against East Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions are facing the Pioneers at the right time seeing as the Pioneers are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
