Softball Recap: Mallard Creek Comes Up Short

After soaring to 19 runs the game before, Mallard Creek was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They came up short against the Hough Huskies, falling 14-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mavericks of the 15-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Morgan Lampkin was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Mallard Creek's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Hough, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mallard Creek will challenge West Mecklenburg at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mallard Creek is facing West Mecklenburg at the right time seeing as West Mecklenburg is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Hough, they are taking a road trip to square off against South Mecklenburg at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hough's pitchers better be ready for this one: South Mecklenburg has averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
